AW13 Trends

Summer sales are all well and good but there’s nothing like a bit of new season chic. These are four of the key trends that we predict you’ll be shopping come September:

Girl-boy dressing

Masculine dressing dominates in shape and print. From single and double breasted blazers and oversize topcoats in Savile Row fabrics such as herringbone, houndstooth and Prince of Wales check to skirts over trousers, it’s all about borrowing from the boys.

Punk rebellion

Hot on the heels of Punk: Chaos to Couture at the Met and a new Costume Institute show, Punk fashion gets a revival for AW13. The international catwalks were awash with tartan, vinyl, chains, studs and spikes. Reds and black dominated as colour stories.

Neo noir

Whatever your hair colour, make like a Hitchcock blonde. The neo noir look gives lady like chic a darker edge. Think nipped waists, belts and skirt suits aplenty.

Pretty pastels

This season designers have been refusing to give into traditional wintery colours, instead giving everything a rosy glow from powder pink to dusky damask. And while pink leads, pretty pastels in all shades from baby blues to buttercup yellows and lavenders make an appearance.
