Ashish Gupta burst onto the London fashion scene with his debut collection in 2001 and instantly gained a huge following for his unique fun-loving, sexy designs.

We caught up with the designer himself to find out what to expect from his Designer Highlight Catwalk Show, scheduled for 7pm on Thursday 19th September at Vodafone London Fashion Weekend.

What’s the Ashish ‘look’?
"It usually involves sportswear and glamour. I am always partial to lashings of sequins!"

What’s the inspiration behind the collection you’ll be showing at Vodafone London Fashion Weekend?
"It was inspired by builders and workwear - I love the idea of taking unexpected types of clothing and doing another interpretation of it.

What’s new from Ashish for AW13?
"I don’t really look at trends, I go more with instinct. That’s because I don’t like the idea of throw away, disposable fashion. For Aw13 I've used lots of reflective fabric and dogtooth motifs, lots of slogans, masculine meets feminine, sequin check, and recycled ‘boro’ denim."

If you had to pick one item from the collection, what would it be?
"The dogtooth slip dress. Wear with heels for a sexy grownup look, or  make it edgy with bashed up old trainers and a trenchcoat."
