PLACES TO BE SEEN IN 2014
As far as New Year’s resolutions go, we figure checking out different places and planning fun times isn’t a bad one. This January, beat the blues by heading to some of these new or rediscovered spots in town, out of town or off the reservation. Our top tips include:
	In the city

	The Shard
	Joiner Street, London SE1 9QU
If you’ve never scaled the Shard, make a date this January 2014 and go to the top of the tallest building in Western Europe. While you’re at it, why not make a reservation for dinner at one of the Shard’s restaurants, Aqua Shard or Hutong?
	Berners Tavern
The London Edition, 10 Berners Street, London W1T 3NP
Currently the place to be seen, the Berners Tavern provides the perfect spot for contemporary British dining in louche surroundings.
	The MayFair Hotel
	Stratton Street, London W1J 8LT
The capital’s chicest hotel is always one of the most stylish places to be seen. Kick off your 2014 with a perfectly mixed negroni in hand.
Out of town

	Coworth Park
Blacknest Rd, Ascot, Berkshire SL5 7SE
Forget about staying in this January. From champagne afternoon tea, live music to gourmet dining, wine tastings and even falconry displays, hotel stays don’t get much more sumptuous than those spent at Coworth Park.
	Golden Oak cabins
Forest Holidays, Blackwood Forest Larkwhistle Farm Road, Micheldever, Winchester, Hampshire SO21 3BG
Get away from the maddening crowds by heading into the woods for some January star-gazing. We love the luxury cabins in Blackwood Forest Hampshire; of course, come with their own private hot tub.
	Off the reservation

And because a new year brings with it limitless possibilities, why not plan big. Clock up those airmiles and head out to your own private atoll - Unforgettable safari lodge - High altitude eco retreat or zen paradise.
