Kumba Dauda – Alexander McQueen
This quote admirably captures the essence of the Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter 2015 collection. The collection was a true paradox in itself; amorously alluring with a strong sense of femininity yet powerful, audacious and declaring superiority. Based upon ‘THAT moment when a rose is on the verge of decay, when the petals turn floppy, soft and crinkled’ is what Sarah Burton was able to seize flawlessly throughout this collection. From the diaphanous fabrics including intricate lace and light organza which imitated petals in layers of tiered fabrics … to the romantic Victorian-esque colour palette featuring soft blush hues, romantic reds & deep sultry wines. This has been the collection to reignite my love for Alexander McQueen, as the contemporary design house arrives back onto their original fashion ground accentuating the sensuality and elegancy women can represent but also the strong, empowering value they possess.
