Lubka Henry - Jean-Pierre Braganza
During my visit to Somerset House yesterday for a day of London Fashion Weekend, I decided to treat myself with a front seat at a session with Jean-Pierre Braganza. He did indeed look like a rock star as Antonia O’Brien who lead the interview described him, but what was more interesting was to hear an artist like him describing his own inspiration and perception of the world.
Braganza Autumn/Winter 2015 collection presented at both LFW and LFWend this month is an impressive mix of undeniable feminine elegance, the designer’s fascination for science fiction and his latest obsession with fighter jets. All this is revealed through peplums and asymmetric layers, finished with his signature rock’n’roll style. The Canadian-born fashion designer studied fine art before moving to London to study at the prestigious Central St. Martins College. As he admits he was fortunate to work with Roland Mouret whilst graduating uni, perfecting his tailoring skills. In 2004 Jean-Pierre Braganza debuted his label at London Fashion Week which has been shown on the catwalks of London, Milan, Tokyo, Shanghai, Berlin, Toronto and more ever since.
