Official AW14 Blogger – Fyodor Golan

Fyodor Golan is a London based label with a bit of an edge. The textural complexity in their designs is astounding, and their structured shapes and integrity of texture is incredibly captivating. This is perhaps why I was so excited to see their designs come to life on the Vodafone London Fashion Weekend catwalk on Friday.

Fyodor and Golan both have artistic backgrounds with an incredible wealth of fashion experience between them - working for the likes of Alexander McQueen and Issey Miyake to name a few. It perhaps comes as no surprise that their clothes are extremely expressive, fusing visually stimulating techniques with a luxury aesthetic. Their AW14 collection oozed popping colour combinations and showed playful manipulation, both with fabric and colour, at its finest.

Describing the Fyodor Golan wardrobe as one for the modern and iconic woman would not be far off, for their clothes strutted down the catwalk in a seemingly fearless and seductive fashion. Fragile feathers that got everyone in a fluster combined with strong sequins and wet-look finishes topped the list of distinctive textiles in this collection. Whilst these garments rocked luxury experimentation, they stood for fun and amusing wearability. Who would have thought a bright pink neon mac would have made it onto a designer catwalk? Well Fyodor Golan did just this and took extravagance to a whole new level in the process, making it somewhat cool and practical.

If I had to choose, one of my favourite pieces had to be the stunning feather embroidered dress. Pairing feminine colour choices with a spirited silhouette I just loved the way it fell effortlessly from the waist and had a floaty dipped hem. The detail of the feathers a striking colorur really elevated the design and showed just how tentative you can be when it comes to colour and  texture. I’m a strong believer in that they should never be kept separated!

All in all the show was a stunning representation of visually stimulating pieces, each one handpicked to show the designers versatility and expressive dialogue. A real treat!
