Official AW14 Blogger – Girl of the moment
Attitude, energy and a wicked sense of humour. These three words sum up fashion writer, stylist and presenter Angela Scanlon to a T.
With her bubbly equivalent Antonia O’Brien hosting the Events Lounge, we had the pleasure of Angela presenting live from all the catwalk shows.
Aside from Vodafone London Fashion Weekend, Angela has worked on a number of high profile projects with the likes of Christian Louboutin, Topshop and Louis Vuitton aswell as contributing to British fashion through the pages of Vogue, Sunday Times Style and Tatler. I caught up with the vivacious fashionista backstage to get the low-down on all things AW and what it’s really like working in the industry…
UF: Hi Angela, so what’s it like presenting live from London Fashion Weekend?
AS: It’s Bonkers! It’s brilliant, we have had such a strong couple of shows. We’re day two now so yesterday we had Amanda Wakeley do a wonderful show – gorgeous, really gorgeous. Really luxurious. Properly wearable, beautiful clothing and then we had Fyodor Golan today who just, you could feel the energy in the tent with everybody as soon as they saw the stuff because it’s just like, iridescent. Amazing colours and textures in abundance - unbelievable and futuristic but lovely and really great to have the two guys down aswell. A properly authentic experience. The trend shows with The Outnet have been the strongest yet and I’m confident to say that.
UF: So what would be your personal highlight from London Fashion Weekend so far?
AS: I mean I’ve definitely racked up quite a significant shopping list, there’s a Chloe top that I want – Simone Rocha has just joined The Outnet er I’m thinking Fyodor Golan is going to you know, upset my bank balance slightly aswell. I’m quite looking forward to Nicholas Oakwell on Sunday so to date yeah just, you know, being surrounded by all this stuff I suppose we’ve come straight off the back of London Fashion Week where you’re looking ahead and now we’re looking at
clothes that we’re able to wear right now so it’s, yeah, getting engrossed in all of that, so it’s, it’s good.
UF: What three pieces would be in your AW14 wardrobe?
AS: This skirt obviously! (Feathered skirt from Fyodor Golan). I do love feathers so maybe it would be a feathered er, popsicle. That’s on my hit list. The Charlotte Simone fur popsicle and actually The Shop is one of my highlights. It’s really brilliant - really brilliant, beautifully curated beauty. Limited edition a lot of it so there’s Paper, London Designer. The little lace skirt that I had on earlier on is from there (Mr Portrait) There’s a little pink bomber jacket from them. I think a really beautiful knit a cashmere knit from Iris and Ink – something you can wear with everything – and then maybe that, this transparent Simone dress (points to stunning dress from THEOUTNET.COM catwalk). So something colourful and whimsical – good old jumper, cashmere jumper you cant go wrong with and then, yeah, the popsicle.
Quite possibly the go-to-girl for fashion advice, I’ll be grabbing myself a popsicle asap!
