Official AW14 Blogger – Style talk with Antonia O’Brien
Friday also saw the turn of Fashion Stylist and Presenter Anotonia O’Brien give a style talk in the Luxe Lounge. If, like me, you had been looking forward to catching a glimpse of this seasons must-have trends, you were certainly in for a treat. Antonia is brilliant at what she does, aside from hosting the events lounge and interviewing a range of fabulous creative individuals, she herself is a talented fashionista with great fashion style and a personality to match.
It was such a joy to hear her thoughts on the top trends for AW14, and boy were they good. First up was my particular favourite, the Lucy Choi Canterbury shoe. A slightly less overt nod to the jungle fever trend, it would work magic paired with chic seperates whilst still providing on-trend connotations. Then came the seperates: a gorgeous Iris and Ink cashmere jumper and stunning Baukjen print shirt complete with orange leather mini. Now if you feel a little skeptical of rocking bright leather, I can honestly reassure you when worn it the right way it looks amazing. Now I’m basing this assumption on what I’ve seen other people wear, and I’ve never actually taken the plunge and sported one myself. However Antonia communicated this separate with such enthusiasm that I almost convinced myself to try it – so watch this space! I did pop over to their pop up in the East Wing and my, it was bright, but you never know what works until you try it!
Following on from this bright little number came a subtle Aztec print clutch by Kate Sheridan. If you haven’t yet seen her bags then head over to the website here because they really are beautiful examples of simple craftsmanship and would go with any outfit. The last must-have piece Antonia shared with us was a black suede and leather jacket by British brand Muubaa. Now I’m not sure I’d ever spend £300 on a coat, but if I did then I would buy something as sturdy and practical as this baby. Effortlessly chic and sophisticated, it would be the perfect finish to any outfit. Whether it’s dinner, work or a city break, I’m never without my trusted leather jacket so this would be the next level up - plus it’s made in Britain so scores extra points!
